It's 1998 in Dickinson, North Dakota and the beloved Dickinson High School mascot, the Fighting Midget, is under assault by pc-minded townsfolk who prefer the less threatening moniker, the Fighting Pheasant. And Danny Mesersmits, an average teen and son of a local athletic legend, has decided that he sucks at wrestling. Two weeks before varsity wrestling begins, Danny announces, much to the shock of his family and friends, that he does not want to compete in the sport that his father dominated. Meanwhile, Danny is distracted by his budding relationship with his socially downtrodden girlfriend, Ann whose disapproving, image-obsessed mother Karen stands in the way. After an unexpected tragedy, Danny retreats into a spiral of self-doubt and torment that strains his relationship with his caring mother Mary and his wise - yet alcoholic - uncle Ron. As Danny wrestles with life's uncertainty he faces his past and sets a plan for his future.

Leo is an Italian who lives in Slovenia. Vučko is a Bosnian who arrived to Slovenia as a child refugee. Leo continues to stay in Slovenia because of his ex-wife Tanja and his son Luka, hoping that they can become a family again. When the bank refuses to grant a loan Leo and Vučko would need to renovate their restaurant, they have no choice but to accept an offer from Gianni, a swindler. They are tasked with stealing Gianni’s truck so that he can collect the insurance money. However, instead of stealing Gianni’s truck, Leo and Vučko mistakenly steal a truck full of refugees. Vučko the refugee and Leo the migrant themselves thus inadvertently become responsible for destinies of people similarly unfortunate as they had once been. In order to solve their financial problems, they decide to sell the refugees. At first it seems that they are not indifferent towards these people, but with each passing day there is less and less humanity left in Leo and Vučko.

For almost a century the town of Grafton, NSW, has celebrated the magnificence of its jacaranda trees with an inspired festival.In the 1880s a German immigrant planted imported Jacaranda tree seeds along the avenues of Grafton in northern NSW. In 1935 the tree-lined avenues were of such splendour that the council of the day decided to hold a festival to celebrate the blossoming of the trees and the arrival of spring. This program shows how this festival has become an annual event that includes the crowing of The Jacaranda Queen.
